1.\u00a0 CONTEXT:<\/strong><\/p>\n The association Ciudad Esperanza was created by Jesuit Father Sergio Godoy some fifteen years ago to support the very vulnerable population of the important Coban dump and its immediate surroundings. The aim of the association is to give the population living on the large public rubbish dump in Coban a more dignified life by means of accompaniment, training and personalised integral education, with a view to better social reintegration.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0 RESOURCES:<\/strong><\/p>\n The centre has 22 classrooms, a canteen, an orphanage (about 15 children), a small dispensary, workshops, a vegetable garden… 3.\u00a0 PROJECTS TO BE SUPPORTED:<\/strong><\/p>\n International Impact supports<\/span> <\/strong>Ciudad Esperanza in the financing of its investments<\/span><\/strong>, and recently in the construction of a bakery.<\/p>\n The current project to be financed consists of the implementation of a process of school reinforcement and assistance to beneficiaries showing a disability supported in learning (pedagogical and psychological reinforcement). <\/p>\n
\nSupported by the Ministry of Education and some Spanish foundations, Ciudad Esperanza today takes care of more than 500 beneficiaries (420 students, 130 in vocational training).<\/p>\n
\nThe Ciudad Esperanza centre provides the following services:
\n– A nursery in the dump for the little ones.
\n– A cycle of primary and secondary education for those who have not had the chance to go to school in order to provide them with the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic.
\n– A cycle of pre-baccalaureate studies.
\n– Vocational training workshops in sewing, hotel business, catering, masonry, market gardening…<\/p>\n
\nThe cost of this process: room extension, adequate material, books… amounts initially to 3500 euros.<\/p>\n
